The BGS provides site investigation borehole reports designed for those planning to drill a borehole and describes the geological succession you might encounter on drilling a borehole at a specific location. The BGS also produces GeoReports to support GSHP concept, feasibility and design stages (vertical open and closed loop systems) including geology prognosis to +200m, thermo-geology estimates, and desk based hydrogeological appraisal (anticipated yields and water chemistry and geological hazards).

Building Low Carbon Solutions carries out feasibility studies on large scale heat networks, heat pumps and CHP and carries out building energy research, troubleshooting and training across a wide range of buildings and technologies.
Phil is the main author of CIBSE Guide F – Energy Efficiency in Buildings and chaired the CP2 Surface Water Source Heat Pumps Code of Practice. He has been consulted on heat pumps for the Canal & River Trust and led the update of CP1(2020) Heat Networks. He has led water source feasibility studies including a 1MW heat pump on a canal and data centre in Islington, a 3MW scheme in the Olympic Park and a large heat network on Liverpool Docks and is currently working on 4th and 5th generation heat networks based on decentralised heat pumps.
