Woman of the Year for Laura

Laura Bishop, our very own Chair, since 2020 and a founding director of Infinitas Design, which designs commercial and industrial heat pump systems, was the recipient of the “Woman of the Year” Award at the recent National ACR & Heat Pump Awards.

A chartered mechanical engineer by profession, Laura has worked in the energy industry for over 20 years, including roles at E.ON (Connecting Energies & Sustainable Energy divisions), Babcock Intec and Rolls-Royce (Fuel Cell Systems).  Since becoming Chair of the GSHPA, she has been a vocal advocate of heat pumps within the media and within government  – at national and local levels – on their importance in delivering heat decarbonisation, a critical part of achieving the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.

Laura believes that heat pumps should be deployed in place of traditional heating and cooling systems. And as a qualified CIBSE Heat Network Consultant, she is influencing the use of heat pumps for low and ultra-low heat networks on local and national levels.

Laura Bishop said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have received the Award and to be acknowledged by my industry peers.  The heat pump industry still has some challenges to overcome but I’m excited at  how the industry will grow over the next decade. Heat pumps will be in the vanguard of the UK’s efforts to switch away from gas boilers. The opportunities for our industry – across the UK – are immense.”
